Questions

What does the app actually tell me?

A threshold. Instead of "option B is better by 412,000", it says "the two come out equal when the deposit rate reaches 14%, and it is 16% now". The second form tells you how much would have to change before the answer changes, which is usually what you wanted to know.

How do I solve for a different field?

Tap the ? beside any field on the entry screen. That field becomes the unknown and the app solves for it. Only one field can be the unknown at a time: solving for two at once has no single answer.

What does "watching" a comparison do?

A kept comparison is re-evaluated once a day against current market figures. Fields that track the market — deposit rates, mortgage rates, inflation — take the day's value; everything you typed stays as you typed it. If the answer crosses over and stays crossed, you get a notice.

Why did I not get a notice when the rate moved?

By design. A reversal is announced only after the figure has moved past the threshold by a real margin and stayed there for three daily readings. A value resting on the boundary would otherwise announce itself every time it twitched, and after one false alarm nobody trusts the next one.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-in and nothing to create. Everything is stored in the app on your device.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Every calculation runs on the device, and the market figures ship inside the app. Each screen that uses one shows the date it was captured, so you can see when the figures are getting old.

Why is region a separate setting from language?

Because tax changes the answer. Interest is taxed above an allowance in Russia, at a flat rate in Poland, and as ordinary income in the United States — and which applies to you is not something your phone's language reveals. Set the language to read the app, set the region to decide which rules it counts by.

What does "coin toss" mean on a result?

That the margin is so small an ordinary movement would reverse the answer. It is shown instead of a confident figure because presenting one would be misleading.

Is this financial advice?

No. The app compares cash flows under figures you supply and states where they come out equal. It does not recommend a course of action, and it is not a licensed adviser. Check the figures against your own bank's terms before acting on anything.

If something is wrong

Notifications are not arriving

Check three things in order. In iOS Settings, confirm notifications are allowed for the app. In the app's settings, confirm fork notices are switched on. Then confirm the comparison itself is being watched — a paused comparison is not re-evaluated. If all three are set and a month has passed with no word at all, the monthly digest should have arrived; if it did not, write to us.

My saved comparisons are gone after reinstalling

Deleting the app deletes its storage, and because nothing is kept on a server there is no copy to restore. An encrypted device backup made before the deletion will bring them back when restored. There is no other route, and we would rather say so than imply we could recover something we never had.

The figures look out of date

Every screen that shows a market-derived number shows the capture date beside it. Pull down on the list of comparisons to force a recalculation.

Deleting your data

Open a comparison and choose Delete this fork to remove it and its history. To remove everything, delete the app. No request to us is needed, and none is possible — we hold nothing to delete.
