Not an answer. A threshold.
Tipping Scales answers irreversible money questions — pay the loan down or put the cash on deposit, rent or buy, instalments or a cash discount — by finding the point at which the two options come out equal. Then it keeps watching, and tells you the day that point is crossed.
A calculator says:
At 16% the deposit comes out 412,000 ahead.
Tipping Scales says:
The two branches come out equal when the deposit rate reaches 14%. It is 16% now — 2 pp of margin towards the deposit.
Who it is for
People facing a decision they cannot easily undo, who want to know how much room they have rather than a single confident number. A threshold tells you what would have to change for the answer to change — and that is usually the thing worth knowing.
Solve for any field
Mark a field as unknown and the calculation solves for it: the rate, the term, the price or the mileage at which both options give the same result.
A comparison that keeps counting
Keep a comparison and it is re-evaluated daily against fresh market figures, so the margin you see is today's, not the one from the day you made it.
A notice when it reverses
When the market crosses your threshold and stays there, a notice says what moved, where the threshold was, and what the comparison shows now.
Fragile answers are called fragile
If half a percentage point would flip the result, the app says so plainly instead of presenting a confident figure it cannot support.
Region, not just language
Tax on interest changes the answer. Russian, Polish and American rules are separate rule sets, chosen independently of the interface language.
Nothing leaves the phone
No account, no sign-in, no bank connection. Your figures stay on the device, and notices about your comparisons are raised there too — no server is told what you are comparing.
Eight comparisons
Pay down or deposit · rent or buy · instalments or a cash discount · own a car or pay per ride · repair or replace · borrow or save up · local rate or foreign currency · self-employed or sole proprietor.
Privacy, in short
- No account and no sign-in. There is nothing to log in to.
- Comparisons, and the figures behind them, stay on the device. Calculations run there too.
- The app does not read your bank accounts or transactions, and cannot.
- Two third-party services are used — push messages and install counting. The privacy policy names both and lists exactly what each receives.
