Privacy policy

The short version: there are no accounts, the figures you enter never leave your device, and the app cannot see your bank. Two third-party services are used — one for push messages, one to count installs — and both are named below with exactly what they receive.
What the app collects
Nothing that identifies you. The app has no sign-in, no user profile, and no server-side record of who uses it.

What you enter stays on the device
The amounts, rates and terms you type are used to run a calculation and, if you choose to keep a comparison, are written to the app's storage on your device. They are not uploaded. They are included in an encrypted device backup if you have one enabled, which is between you and Apple.
Notifications, and the distinction that matters
There are two different things called notifications here, and only one of them involves anyone else.
Notices about your comparisons — that a threshold was crossed, or that an answer turned fragile — are composed and raised on your device after it recalculates. No server is told which comparisons you keep, so no server could send you one even if it wanted to. That is a structural property, not a promise.
Messages from us — about a required update, for instance — travel through OneSignal, a push provider. To deliver them it holds a subscription identifier for your installation together with the ordinary device facts listed above: model, operating system and app version, language, time zone, and the country inferred from the IP address of the request. It is not linked to your name, your email or any account, because the app has none of those.
You can turn notifications off in the app's settings or in iOS Settings at any time. Your comparisons keep updating either way; you simply are not told.
OneSignal's own handling is described in its privacy policy.
Market figures
Rates and inflation figures ship inside the app, and each screen that uses one shows the date it was captured. Calculations run entirely on your device. A future version may fetch updated figures from a service operated for this app; if it does, the request will carry only the region being asked about — no identifier, no comparison of yours, nothing that distinguishes one reader from another — and this page will be updated before that version is released.
Third-party services
Two, and no others.
OneSignal delivers the push messages described above.
AppsFlyer counts installs, so that we can tell how people found the app. It records that the app was installed and opened, together with device type, operating system and the country inferred from the request, plus exactly six events:
- the welcome screen was finished or skipped
- the walkthrough was read to the end
- a scenario was opened
- a threshold was solved
- a comparison was kept under watch
- a watched comparison reversed
Those are counts of actions, not their contents. AppsFlyer never receives the amounts, rates or terms you type, never receives which scenario you opened, and never receives a comparison you kept.
Tracking, and the choice you are given
iOS asks you once, on first launch, whether this app may track you. That prompt is real: it decides whether AppsFlyer may use Apple's advertising identifier to connect your install to an advertisement you saw.
If you decline, the identifier is not used. The app switches it off in code rather than leaving it to the SDK, the install is still counted, and nothing else about the app changes — every feature works the same either way.
Apple Search Ads attribution is switched off in both cases; the app never collects it.
We may also turn attribution down remotely, without a new release, in which case the prompt is not shown at all and the app tells AppsFlyer to stop sharing anything with advertising partners. Nothing you do in the app is affected by which of these is in force.
There is no analytics SDK and no crash reporting SDK. Nothing else about how you use the app is sent anywhere.

Web content
Opening the privacy or support link from the app's settings shows this website inside an in-app browser. The browser is Apple's and may set cookies or local storage for the site it displays. This site sets none.
Children
Tipping Scales is intended for adults making financial comparisons and is rated accordingly. It is not directed at children, and it collects no data from anyone, including children.
Retention and deletion
Everything you create lives on your device: delete a comparison in the app to remove it, or delete the app to remove all of it at once. Neither needs a request to us, and neither can be undone from our side, because we never had a copy.
The push subscription is removed when you delete the app or turn notifications off. The install record held by AppsFlyer is retained for as long as its own retention policy provides. To have either deleted sooner, write to us with the date and rough time you last opened the app and we will ask the provider to remove the record.
International transfers
The figures you enter and the comparisons you keep never leave your device, so they are never transferred anywhere. The push and install data described above is processed by OneSignal and AppsFlyer on infrastructure in the United States and the European Union.
Your rights
Rights of access, correction, deletion and objection under the GDPR and similar laws apply. The only data held about you is the push subscription and the install record described above, neither of which is tied to a name or an account. Write to info@tippingscales.life to exercise any of these rights and we will answer within two business days.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. Material changes will be described in the release notes of the version that makes them.
